For the first time in the several past years the vessel of the Institute of Internal Seas Biology set off to a long field trip along the Volga. The scientists will take samples of air, water, soil and aquatic plants and will study the impact of industrial emissions on the fauna of water reservoirs. A special study will be devoted to fish and their species composition.
The field trip will last for more than a month. It will start in Borok in Yaroslavl region and finish in Astrakhan. The survey results will be compared with the results of studies held 20 and 30 years ago.
The field trip will help assess the changes of the Volga ecosystem and the pollution trends.
