Special representatives and deputies ministers of foreign affairs of Iran, Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan are taking part in the two day 47th session of the special working group of the Caspian States. Iran’s Foreign Affairs Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, who opened the session, noted that discussion of the legal status of the Caspian Sea is held in the atmosphere of mutual understanding, Caspian Energy News (www.caspianenergy.net) reports with reference to Azertag. He noted that the sides are demonstrating a constructive position in the course of discussions which promotes fair solution of the matter.
Addressing the meeting, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Khalaf Khalafov noted that negotiations on the legal status of the Caspian Sea bear a constructive character.
Agreements reached within the framework of summits of the heads of state and decisions contributed to the process of coordination of major principles of the Convention about the legal status of the Caspian Sea and promote the acceleration of work on the draft of the Convention.
