The Caspiy 2017 international exercise of rescue services of the Caspian Sea countries has been opened today in the city of Baku, Azerbaijan. The exercise is being staged to practice joint response of rescue services of Russia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan to emergency situations both on land and in sea, including collision of ships, a traffic accident, fires and structural collapses.
The participants started to discuss the strategy of the international rescue effort at the Azerbaijani Emergency Ministry’s Academy. The specialists are going to discuss cooperation and development of partnership between their agencies.
The event is attended by heads of emergency agencies of the Caspian Sea countries, as well as the International Civil Defense Organization (ICDO). The Russian team is headed by Deputy Minister for Emergency Situations Vladlen Aksyonov, who made introductory remarks saying that such events help to get more familiar with latest rescue technologies, modern firefighting and rescue equipment.
